The project involved the restoration of a 1920’s detached dwelling. The original structure featured a distinctive roof that had been covered with concrete tiles over the years, obscuring its authentic aesthetic. The goal of the project was to restore the building's original character by replacing the existing roof with new clay Rosemary roof tiles, which closely matched the original materials used in its construction.
The client sought a comprehensive consultation service from us that was independent of contracting services. They required thorough research into the building's history to identify the original roof coverings and ensure that the restoration would be both authentic and compliant with any relevant heritage guidelines.
This project focused on restoring a historical residential roof with original clay Rosemary roof tiles, enhancing the building’s visual appeal and preserving its heritage. The work involved stripping the existing concrete tiles, replacing key components like fascia and roof lights, and installing new tiles. Given the limited on-site parking and the complex roof design, careful logistical planning was essential. Regular scaffold adjustments allowed safe access and progress across varying roof levels, ensuring minimal disruption to the client.
The team utilised innovative strategies, such as dynamic work planning based on real-time weather assessments, and drones for site surveys to enhance efficiency. Communication was streamlined through a dedicated chat group that kept all stakeholders informed, facilitating smooth project management. The involvement of two apprentices also provided valuable hands-on experience, supporting their training while contributing to the project’s success.
A heat-loss survey led to insulation upgrades using Kingspan and Sika-reinforced membranes, improving energy efficiency while maintaining the building’s aesthetics. The project was completed with high safety standards and meticulous attention to detail, preserving both the property’s historical significance and ensuring client satisfaction. This comprehensive approach showcased our commitment to quality, safety, and effective collaboration.
