RBS Chief Office

Perth

Project Outline

We were approached by McLaughlin & Harvey Limited, WorkSpace division in early 2023 who were operating under the RBS plc Contractors Framework and had been allocated the RBS Perth Chief Office property to investigate and resolve ongoing issues with their existing Standing Seam Metal Roof. Our proposals were to include diagnosis of issues, design, specification of products and warranty, as well as considering some major constraints such as access restrictions, existing roof plant, and operating in a live office and branch environment.

Outcome

The RBS Bank Perth roofing project successfully overcame several challenges to deliver a seamless, high-quality result. The metal roof design, extending onto the fascia and soffit, required innovative waterproofing solutions, including the use of Centech APA, which provided a seamless and odourless liquid membrane. This product's fast-curing properties allowed work to proceed swiftly without disrupting the bank's daily operations, an essential requirement due to its ongoing financial services.

The team meticulously cleaned and prepared metal seams, ensuring a solid base for the waterproofing application. Collaboration between the contractor, client, and suppliers was key, with daily reporting and real-time weather monitoring ensuring flexibility and safety. Access constraints, such as the bank’s car park and the need for after-hours work, were carefully managed to minimise disruption.

Manufacturer oversight and rigorous quality checks ensured the project met high standards, and the involvement of apprentices provided valuable hands-on experience. Ultimately, the project was completed on time, maintaining both the functional and aesthetic requirements, while also enhancing energy efficiency and safety standards.
